President Obama has another cabinet position to fill. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced his resignation today and in a letter to his department, he said he plans to leave by the end of March and return to Colorado. "After much reflection, I have decided to announce that I intend to return to my home state of Colorado and my family, having fulfilled my promise to President Obama to serve four years as Secretary," he wrote to agency staff. In his letter, Salazar said agency successes include "a renewable energy revolution," land preservation and conservation and the settlement of the Cobell case, a class action lawsuit against the U.S. government by Native Americans. His tenure also included the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which not only spilled about 5 million barrels of oil into the gulf but killed 11 workers.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
