The most American of acts-- the star tv confession-- played out Thursday night on the cable channel OWN as Lance Armstrong asked for mercy in the court of Oprah Winfrey. It was interesting movie theater, at least for those who can discover the little-watched network, and a night where the interviewer came off far much better than her topic. Winfrey lost little time in asking Armstrong a series of yes-or-no questions, including whether he had actually utilized the blood booster EPO, whether he had actually utilized cortisone and HGH, and whether he doped for each of his seven Tour de France victories. He responded to "yes," to each of her first 5 questions and then said he did not believe it would have been feasible to gain the Tour seven times had he not doped.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
